SIGMA has captured the attention of photography enthusiasts by unexpectedly showcasing a demo unit (working prototype) of its highly anticipated ultra-fast medium-telephoto prime lens, the 'SIGMA 85mm F1.2 DG Art', at the China International Photograph & Electrical Imaging Machinery and Materials Fair (China P&E Show) held in Beijing.
This marks the very first time the physical lens has been displayed to the public in detail since its development announcement last February. Featured at the Beijing show, the 85mm F1.2 Art lens boasts the robust, premium finish characteristic of SIGMA's flagship 'Art' lineup. Despite its ultra-bright F1.2 aperture, the lens features a notably more compact exterior design compared to its direct competitors in the market.
With the release of this 85mm F1.2 model, SIGMA will officially complete its high-precision F1.2 prime lens lineup—dubbed the 'F1.2 Trilogy'—alongside the existing '35mm F1.2 DG II Art' and '50mm F1.2 DG DN Art'.
Poised to become the ultimate choice for portrait photography and a true "bokeh monster," the 'SIGMA 85mm F1.2 DG Art' lens is scheduled for an official release in September 2026 for Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount. The retail price has not yet been disclosed.
[Editor's Note]
"Shaved-down size and weight, fully wide-open aperture! The ultimate evolution of the 'Bokeh Monster' is here to redefine portrait photography for Sony and Leica shooters."
