TTArtisan, a Chinese lens manufacturer making waves in the third-party lens market, has officially teased and revealed the silhouettes of two new full-frame autofocus (AF) prime lenses designed for L-mount camera users.

The upcoming models belong to the brand's new ‘NEO Series’, line-up, which focuses on extreme affordability and minimalism: the AF 50mm f/1.8 NEO and the AF 85mm f/1.8 NEO full-frame lenses. This adds yet another appealing choice for the L-mount alliance ecosystem, which includes Leica, Panasonic (Lumix), and Sigma users.

Lens Specifications & Key Features

These two new lenses depart from conventional third-party designs by adopting a unique engineering philosophy. Most notably, TTArtisan has boldly removed both the physical aperture ring and the manual focus ring from the lens body.

  • Minimalist Design & Lightweight Construction: By completely eliminating analog controls, all settings are handed over to the camera body interface. This approach significantly reduces the physical size and weight of the lenses, maximizing the portability inherent to mirrorless systems.
  • Unbeatable Price-to-Performance: TTArtisan is highlighting an "Astonishing Price" and "Outstanding Image Quality" as the core selling points for this new series. In particular, the standard 50mm f/1.8 model is expected to be priced under $100 globally, making it the most affordable entry-level AF lens available for the L-mount ecosystem.
  • Reliable AF Performance: Equipped with an STM (stepping motor) autofocus system, these lenses deliver fast and quiet focusing. They also fully support subject-recognition AF functions on modern mirrorless bodies, enabling precise tracking of human eyes (Eye-AF), animals, and vehicles.

Editor's Note

"A pair of dirt-cheap disruptors is coming to save L-mount users' wallets." For a long time, the L-mount alliance has left users craving lightweight, budget-friendly snap lenses—stuck between Leica’s prohibitively expensive premium lineup and Sigma’s high-performance but heavy glass. While the NEO series' lack of physical rings might divide opinion, the combination of a sub-$100 price tag and a lightweight form factor will be incredibly hard to resist, especially for creators using compact bodies like the Panasonic Lumix S9 or the S5 series.
