At the China P&E (Beijing Photo Show) held in Beijing, China, SG-Image, a rising powerhouse in affordable lenses, introduced two new autofocus (AF) lenses designed specifically for Micro Four Thirds (MFT) users. The newly unveiled lens lineup precisely targeted the needs of MFT users who prefer compact camera systems.
① AF 18mm f/2.2 (APS-C / MFT Compatible) This ultra-wide-angle, pancake-style lens was optimized for street and landscape photography. It provided a focal length equivalent to approximately 36mm in the MFT format, offering a standard-to-wide angle of view. With its maximized portability, it was expected to be an excellent choice for daily street photographers.
② AF 25mm f/1.8 (MFT Dedicated) This standard prime lens offered a focal length equivalent to approximately 50mm in the MFT format, often referred to as a "cafe lens." Aimed at being a lightweight "creator's lens," its bright f/1.8 aperture made it perfectly suited for low-light indoor shooting and creating beautiful background blur (bokeh) effects.
Both products promised outstanding value for money and decent AF performance. They were expected to once again demonstrate the formidable power of third-party lenses in the mirrorless market this year.
