Leica has officially unveiled a new color lineup that reinterprets the brand's iconic identity with a modern touch. According to international photography news outlets Photo Rumors and Leica Rumors, Leica announced a new 'Metal Gray' finish edition encompassing three of its popular camera models—M11-P, Q3, and D-Lux 8—along with the high-end APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH. lens.
Specially developed at the Leica factory in Wetzlar, Germany, this Metal Gray paint delivers a unique aura of elegance that stands apart from the traditional black and silver finishes.
📷 Key Features by Model
- Leica M11-P Metal Gray This marks the first time the Metal Gray tone has been applied to the M-system. The subtle gray hue of the full-metal body creates a flawless contrast with the black control dials, while the distinctive diamond-pattern leatherette adds a layer of extreme minimalism. (Released immediately on May 28)
- APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH. Lens Finished in the same gray paint to achieve perfect unity with the M11-P body, this lens features striking red and black engravings for the distance and aperture scales, maximizing its visual impact.
- Leica Q3 & D-Lux 8 Metal Gray Leica’s flagship full-frame compact camera, the Q3, and the ultimate daily snapshot camera, the D-Lux 8, have also received a fresh look. Notably, the D-Lux 8 unifies the top shutter, main dials, and even the function (FN) buttons in Metal Gray, emphasizing sophisticated two-tone detailing. Both models are scheduled for global release on July 16, accompanied by dedicated dark brown and cognac leather accessories.
✍️ Editor's Note
"The trend of 'Millennial Gray' interior design may have passed, but the era of 'Leica Gray' in the camera market seems to have just begun. Instead of a flashy look that instantly grabs attention, what could be a more perfect camouflage for silently capturing the world through the viewfinder? The addition of this cool, intellectual gray tone to the M11-P—a camera that already defined the essence of minimalism by removing the iconic red dot—is more than enough to set the hearts of both collectors and photographers racing once again."
