The '2026 China P&E Imaging Show,' one of the world's largest photographic and imaging equipment exhibitions, was held with great success in Beijing. The main highlight of this year's exhibition was undoubtedly the explosive
technological growth and ruthless onslaught of new products from Chinese third-party lens manufacturers. Notably, since the vast majority of these innovative third-party lenses support or have announced upcoming releases for the Nikon Z-mount, the choices for Nikon mirrorless users are set to become richer than ever before.
The brand that drew the most attention was Viltrox. Viltrox showcased a massive lineup of nine new lenses and a wireless flash trigger system, highlighted by their high-end 'EVO' series designed for extreme image quality. The 26mm f/2.8 EVO pancake lens, along with APS-C portrait powerhouses like the 75mm f/1.8 EVO and 90mm f/2.2 EVO, captured the attention of attendees with their unparalleled cost-performance ratio and outstanding capabilities.
Meike also aggressively knocked on the doors of the full-frame and medium format markets. They took center stage by introducing their second-generation full-frame flagship portrait lens, the '85mm f/1.4 II MIX' (for E/Z/L mounts), featuring an Apochromatic (APO)-grade chromatic aberration suppression design, alongside a unique optical structure for their MIX APS-C f/1.2 autofocus (AF) lens lineup.
Laowa (Venus Optics), famous for its unique manual and specialty lenses, officially declared its territorial expansion into the AF (autofocus) market. By announcing the 'AF 15-35mm' wide-angle zoom lens for full-frame cameras and the 'AF 4.5-10mm f/2.8 Fisheye Zoom Lens' for APS-C bodies, they signaled a paradigm shift in the third-party ultra-wide-angle AF market.
Other new and established manufacturers also displayed immense enthusiasm for the Nikon Z-mount. Yongnuo came out strong with its 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 lenses equipped with the latest VCM (Voice Coil Motor) and LCD information displays. 7Artisans introduced the 135mm f/1.8 MAX telephoto large-aperture prime lens, while Songraw deployed a massive lineup of full-frame AF prime lenses (50mm & 85mm) boasting ultra-fast f/1.2 apertures for Nikon Z and Sony E mounts.
Once dismissed as mere 'cheap alternatives,' Chinese third-party lenses have now evolved to a level that threatens major manufacturers, boasting high-performance AF motors, high-resolution optical designs (APO), and built-in information displays. The 2026 China P&E Show clearly proved that the Nikon Z-mount ecosystem is transforming into a more robust and accessible market thanks to the aggressive influx of third-party options.
[Editor's Note] "Just a few years ago, Chinese lenses were often dismissed as 'manual-focus, budget toys.' However, the momentum from the continent witnessed at this 2026 P&E Show is not just impressive—it's downright terrifying. They have caught up to the heels of major brands, packing ultra-fast f/1.2 glass with high-speed VCM motors and even digital LCD screens onto the lens barrels. For Nikon Z-mount users, this marks the beginning of an unprecedented festival that satisfies both performance desires and wallet sizes. It will be fascinating to watch what kind of clever defensive strategy Nikon’s native lenses deploy against this massive third-party onslaught."
