Full compatibility with GFX Eterna and GFX100 series... expanding the medium format ecosystem. 6-lens lineup from 18mm to 100mm with user-interchangeable mounts.
Leitz Cine GmbH, the premium German optical manufacturer, has announced the addition of a Fujifilm G-mount option to its popular mirrorless prime lens lineup, the "HEKTOR" series. This move allows users of Fujifilm’s large-format cinema camera, the GFX Eterna 55, and the GFX100 medium format mirrorless series to experience Leitz's signature vintage aesthetic.
■ Cinematic Soul Meets Modern Technology
The Leitz HEKTOR series draws inspiration from classic M-lenses and Petzval designs of the 1930s–50s. By intentionally excluding aspherical elements and using only spherical lenses, the series delivers a distinct character—featuring unique flares, field curvature, and a smooth peripheral fall-off—recreating a classic look on modern digital sensors.
■ Compatibility with GFX Eterna 55
The introduction of the G-mount is seen as a strategic move to support Fujifilm’s recently unveiled cinema lineup, the GFX Eterna system. Leitz stated:
"While the HEKTOR lenses were originally designed for full-frame sensors, their actual image circle is significantly larger. Although slight vignetting may occur in the Open Gate mode of the GFX Eterna 55 at wider focal lengths, they provide ample coverage for most standard cinema aspect ratios."
■ Operational Convenience and Specifications
Joining the existing Sony E, Leica L, Canon RF, and Nikon Z mounts, the G-mount is designed as a user-interchangeable system. Users can swap mounts themselves using basic tools. Lenses can be ordered with the G-mount pre-installed, or the mount kits can be purchased separately.
- Lineup: 18, 25, 35, 50, 73, and 100mm (6 lenses total)
- Aperture: Fixed T2.1 across the entire range
- Uniformity: Except for the 18mm, all lenses share the same outer diameter (80mm), filter size (77mm), and gear positions for rapid lens changes on a rig.
- Key Features: Manual operation, passive mount (no metadata transmission).
■ Pricing and Availability
Individual HEKTOR lenses are priced at approximately $7,390 ($7,590 for the 18mm), with separate mount kits available for around $190.
Rainer Hercher, Managing Director of Leitz Cine, remarked, "As camera systems evolve, we are collaborating with various manufacturers to ensure creators have the freedom to use the most compelling lenses available."
