This program is being hailed as a groundbreaking after-sales service (AS) solution designed to give consumers peace of mind when using their Nikon equipment over the long term.
The 'Nikon Care' series applies to new and certified refurbished products, including mirrorless cameras (Z series), DSLRs, Coolpix cameras, Z and F mount lenses, Speedlights, and major genuine accessories. Linked with the standard 1-year limited warranty provided upon purchase through an authorized dealer, it offers seamless extended care for a total of 2 or 3 years.
This extended plan fully covers routine mechanical and electrical breakdowns, as well as damage caused by sudden power surges. All repairs and part replacements are handled by skilled engineers at official Nikon service centers using 100% genuine parts, ensuring high reliability.
Taking protection a step further, 'Nikon Care+' expands the scope of coverage beyond mechanical defects to include Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH). It completely covers accidental drops and liquid spills or splashes that frequently occur during shoots, which is expected to draw a strong response from professional photographers and advanced amateurs alike.
Notably, this program features consumer-centric protection clauses. Key highlights include the 'No Lemon Promise'—which guarantees a product replacement if the same defect persists after three or more repairs—and a policy that ensures full repair or replacement up to the original purchase price of the product. Additionally, it includes free round-trip shipping across the U.S. for repairs, and the plan can be transferred to a new owner free of charge during a secondhand sale, making it highly advantageous for maintaining the asset value of used gear.
To eligibility, the plan must be purchased at the time of hardware acquisition or within 30 days of purchase from an authorized Nikon dealer nationwide (such as B&H Photo, Paul's Photo, Service Photo, etc.). However, coverage excludes normal wear and tear, cosmetic blemishes like surface scratches, theft, loss, and internal data recovery.
